Swift County offers a continual celebration of its ethnic heritage and agricultural roots through festivals, foods and fairs.

Our Heritage

Approximately 42 percent of Swift County’s residents have some German ancestry, but many other ethnic groups are well represented, including: Norwegian (33% of residents), Irish (10%), Swedish (9%), English (5%), French (4%), African, Hispanic and Polish (each at 3%).

Festivals

Among the major regional festivals are Sytende Mai, Appleton Applefest, St. Patrick’s Day, Benson Kid Day, Pioneer Band Fest, and Kerkhoven Town and Country Days.

Each of the events attracts revelers who come to celebrate the unique foods, cultures and music of the people who call Swift County home.
